De draden van Marbellus

Yesterday we had our book presentation of "De draden van Marbellus". An illustration book written by one of Belgium's favourite authors Marc de Bel. I am very proud that he asked me to make the illustrations! It's a story about a boy who falls down from a tree and when he wakes up, his body grows old but in his mind he stays a little boy. He writes and tells stories and lives in a tree, everything goes well untill suddenly a string grows out of his head and he slowly turns into a puppet. A little bit like Pinokkio, but backwards...

Thank you Marc for the lovely story and thank you Van Halewyck who published the book. It was great working together!

I proudly present you "Toen de zee stil was" or translated "When the sea was quiet".

It is a poetic illustration book for children and adults about the sea and the beauty of silence.
The story is written by Belgian journalist Annelies Beck, I did the illustrations and Leen Depooter did the graphic design. I am very happy with the result and want to thank all the people I worked together with! Also Sofie Van Sande and the people of Lannoo, who published the book.

Update about "Oma"

It's been a long time since my last update! But so far, it's going pretty well with "Oma".
She's doing great at being selected at amazing festivals such as KLIK! Amsterdam, Anima Brussels, Monstra Lisbon, Trickfilm Stuttgart, Bay Area Intl festival San Francisco, Animafest Zagreb, etc. And it also won an audience award at the International Shortfilm Festival in Leuven (Belgium).

A good friend who helped me a lot with the production of Oma, made something awesome to celebrate all the great news for my birthday:
A 3D printed mini-girl from the film! It's very cute.

And also... here's a sneak peak of the first illustration book I am working on! It's a story about the sea and I am very excited about it. More news about that will follow later :)
